Activities of NSS Volunteers and Adoption of Village
NSS volunteers generally work with villages, slums and voluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year. As per the fundamental principles of National Service Scheme, a volunteer is expected to remain in constant touch with the community. Hence, it is of vital importance that a particular village/slum is selected for implementation of NSS programmes. As the NSS volunteer is to live with the members of the community and learn from their experience during his/her tenure in NSS, the village/slum should be carefully selected for adoption by NSS unit.
The Activities under NSS are two-fold, viz.
Regular Activities
Under this, students undertake various Programmes in the adopted villages, College Campuses and urban slums during weekends or after college hours.

- Regular activities, which are undertaken during the working days of the semester, and
- Special Camping activities for 07 days duration in the adopted village/urban slum during vacation.

Special Camping Programme
Under this, 07 days camp organized in the adopted villages with a specified theme being given by Govt. of India by involving local youth. The Special camp should be conducted only in the adopted villages or the group of villages /Urban slums for intensive social development.

- Free Medical Camp
- Rain Water Harvesting
- Conducting a Social Economy Survey
- Planting Tree Saplings
- Awarenesss about Drinking, Smoking, Aids
- Technical Training for Youths
- Literacy Campaigning
- Cleaning Schools and Temple Premises at the village.
